Android in Tablet Market

No doubt, that Android is market leader in mobile operating systems and smart phones. Android owns 52.5% of smartphone market. Now Android is trying to enter in tablet market but it is fact that its tablets have met with minimal market acceptance to current date. Its tablets are not as good as smartphones. There are two main reasons that the mainstream version of Android for tablets may never reach to its full potential. First reason is “Amazon’s Kindle Fire” that uses base version of Android and completely customized it according to use. In simple words, these companies have hijacked Android for their own purposes. This whole process has caused a serious crack or diverging of Android for tablets.

There is an annoying thing that software developers of Amazon have adapt their Android apps for tablet use to sale at Amazon’s AppStore. Amazon only use Android’s apps in order to increase the functionality of apps that goes into its stores to make sure that they work as designed and assure that they are free of malware. Second reason is Google that discouraged several vendors who have backed Android for tablets via the “hero” vendor model and the lack of consistency of tablet OS releases. There is still no future of Android tablets because these are not widely accepted by consumers. Some vendors such as HP, Dell, Lenovo and some other past Android supporters in tablets switch to Windows 8 for a couple of reasons.

IT managers at first enamored with Android in tablets for their business use and now Windows 8 has been grabbing the attention of these managers. This is because of rewriting of Android apps and in fact, Windows 8 is the major rival of Android Tablet. Windows 8 can support existing apps with some touch UI tinkering. Microsoft with the help of its partner is planned to release Windows 8 tablets in quarter three of the next year. Microsoft is designing Windows 8 tablet considering needs of businesses and enterprises. This is a very crucial moment because Apple is the only topper in the market. It offers pilot programs for the Fortune 500 businesses. 10,000 American airlines are planned to deploy SAP in the coming year.

Samsung, Motorola and HTC are the only vendors with the mainstream of Android. Although these companies are using Android Apps but there are strong probabilities for these companies to adopt Windows 8. This situation can dilute the marketplace of Android tablets in the consumer space. No doubt, that Android’s smartphones are still popular but the tablet market has lot of other dynamics behind its success. Collaboration of Apple and Microsoft technologies are basic hurdle in the success of Android tablet in market because these two are more stable companies in the field of tablet. Apple and Microsoft are soon entering in the market in order to introduce advanced tablets with Windows 8 and in this situation; there is no potential for Android tablets in the market.

The whole explanation suggests that Android tablets are just like dead fish in water because still Android needs more advancement in order to takeover other successful companies in the market. Apple has major advantage in this area and if Android wants to coup apple, it has to eat away market lead of Apple.
